Stages
Every sculpture is realized through 10 or more stages:
1. concept
2. sketch
3. model study
4. 3D CAD file
5. cut
6. fabricate
7. grind
8. surface finish
9. coat, as applicable
10. site
Siting generally includes locating, landscaping, forming a pedestal, rotating piece, anchoring, all of which are important for a piece to “sing its song”. Sand blast and surface finish options are always open.
Patron Input
Patron input is sometimes sought for both commissions and purely creative pieces at any stage. Sculpture may be designed to suit a specific site or nestle into patron's property in particular ways depending upon its finish, patina and shape. Atrium pieces can be finished to blend or contrast with an interior. Outdoor pieces might be left to rust, painted for contrast between parts, or protectively coated.
